Thank you all for the 147 views in two weeks on my design ideas/moving the room around. However i have chosen to delete my post due to the lack of a response. I spent a couple of hours planning how to write the post, taking measurements, reading the rules, drawing a diagram etc and in over a half a month and just about 150 views not one person has left a response! I Still love the site and am extremely grateful for it being here. The wealth of information on it is priceless to say the least. I'll be sure to make a paypal donation in the future to ensure it lives on. However posting for help wasn't worth a dime. I spent days waiting for any kind of reply before rearranging the room, then days moving it around. Now I have a window behind me and am in a corner with a 45 degree wall! :yahoo: I come back two weeks later after the havoc to check my post, not one response! Thanks again!
To be fair to the members of this forum, you have not read the stickies and made any changes as outlined in them and you really haven't asked anything that has not already been taken care of by some pretty good help, John an Ethan. Maybe an exact question would be more in order, after you read the stickies and get familiar with that. You are correct in that the information is the gain from being here. Those 150 views you mention are mostly other people looking into your thread wondering where you live ;)
Exactly. Like xSpace said, you should read the stickies. then maybe you'll understand why you didn't get any answers. There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post (click here). Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply if you don't do what is written in that post. Many others who are very helpful, will not reply out of respect for the moderators' wishes.
Thanks for the replies fellas. I did read that link several times over to ensure i correctly posted my question. I could not find ANY help on 45 degree walls except 2 posts which were not very helpful whatsoever to my particular situation. I have an aquarium that needs to be in the spot it's in due to the outlet being close enough for two circuit breakers to plug in and hang inside the aquarium stand. No other spot will let me do this not to mention it has some delicate corals in it i would rather not disturb. So as you see my situation is a bit different which is why none of the resources would help and my details were very thorough i thought. I just need to treat the listening position as best as possible for my area, not for the people in the room. If they all hear something different too bad so long as i am hearing the "true" mix as this is what my room will allow. If i put my desk in the middle facing the window like suggested in my findings, i would not have room for the aquarium or sump. I drew up several diagrams trying to figure out the best arrangement. At least now i am not directly in front of the tank getting reflection from the glass however i am sure i am getting reflections off of the window and my bed mirror not to mention the odd walk in wall directly to my left with the other window/AC in (which is never on during mixing). I plan on throwing a heavy sleeping bag over the bed mirror for critical listening but have not figured out what to do for the window. Probably a portable acoustic panel on wheels or something to put in front of it and some bass traps in the walk in wall corners, then the normal ceiling and side wall treatments. This is what i've been able to come up with so far and hopefully not wasting money building the wrong traps as i still have the raw materials to build these but am soon ready to get moving on em.
Your first post: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13064&p=89681#p89681 Says nothing about what you just mentioned. I'm going to move past the idiosyncratic and make a simple suggestion. If you are making a build thread, then set it up like the stickies suggest. what are the room sizes, what monies will you spend, what are the measurements of the room, etc. John suggests enough information from the start to avoid having clarification latter that a pole was in the middle of the room. Pole, aquarium...same difference. You have to treat every viewer like they have never seen your place and know nothing about it. Because they have not and they do not ;) I suspect this looks or reads antagonistic, but no one can help in a situation where guess work is the lead player. Most of what goes on in an acoustic environment is a very exacting science. And it can not be left up to a few players to know everything as much as it can not be left up to you to expect others to already know what it is you are trying to mend. So I ask with much humility, help those willing to help you, to help you.
I understand xSpace and thanks again for replying. I really do appreciate your patience on the subject. I know you're trying to figure out what's going on. I had deleted the post with all the information about the room measurements, materials, that i have already spent my budget for now, etc. It wasn't the post about LENRD traps. I do believe that was my first post. I've rearranged the room so maybe i'll rewrite it all and make a new diagram if you might have a look. I still have the measurements in my notebook so that'll help. Thanks again.
