I am about to put up the inner leaf frame to my control room. Only one wall of the outer leaf has been constructed which is the front wall of the CR and runs about 11' with 2x4 16" oc. After doing some more research and suggestions of others I came to find that 24" oc can be a bit more beneficial for isolation.
Would I gain or lose anything to space my inner leaf frame 24" oc to run with the outer 16"oc?
And should corresponding studs in each wall be offset from each other so the placement of the studs are more evenly dispersed amongst the the double stud wall?
Thanks Everyone!!! Ian - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11508&start=30
Stud Spacing

24"OC is better, since it reduces the resonant frequency of your wall, which is good. I don't think it matters much if your studs line up or not. If there is any difference, my guess is that it would be tiny. - Stuart -Would I gain or lose anything to space my inner leaf frame 24" oc
If you go with 24oc wall frames, is it a given that you have 24oc ceiling rafters?
So the weight of the ceiling is resting directly on the walls?
I read Xspace prefered 16oc for the cieling.
That's a good question :D
What matters, with ceiling framing members, is that the wood should only be spanned according to span charts. A 16 inch layout will allow a longer span of the framing member. Naturally, it is important to the integrity of the building to have maximum support under each member that carries a load.
So while a 24 inch layout is recommended for a more flexible wall, everything matters. The size(2X?) of the ceiling joist framing, how far it spans and the load that it will carry.
Hope that helps,
Brien
