I've posted in the Studio Construction a summary of what I plan to do. Here it is... http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10475 I'm also planning on building a control room as well. Attached is my first sketchup attempt of the floor plan. If you look at the area where the oil tank is I am avoiding that area because on only seldom occasion some water gets in there when it rains really hard. I've lived in the house for 8 years and this is the only damp spot. All other areas stay nice and dry. The reason for the small water problem is when the gutter overflows from clogging water spills close to the foundation and creeps in around my sewer and water lines. I am currently alleviating the problem by regrading and getting a bigger drain. Also the span of the ceiling is much longer between the Steel beam and foundation on that side of my basement. I chose the tracking/live room location since it is furthest from my neighbors and has no windows, very little wiring and piping. The exchange chamber listed in Rod's book on page 133 would be located near the windows. If you followed the link above you will see I started beefing up the ceiling with bb|sheetrock|gg|sheetrock. The section above the possible tracking/live room is done. I'll be posting different variations of my floor plan soon. If anyone has any suggestions while I'm in the process feel free to comment.

Your control room back walls, they seem to angle? Wouldn't this be a better place to have your walls run full length to make a corner and then trap it?
Hey thanks for looking.... Yeah I was trying to get the control room to fit so you could sit behind the desk and look through the window into the live room. Unfortunately I cut the back corners to get to the other side of the basement without cutting through the control room. I have another sketch I'm working on that I'll post in the next day or so.
I'm trying to get kendale's coffin control room to fit in my space. Height 83" ~ 6.92' L. W. Here I tried to draw a layout for the exchange chamber. Pretty messy... Gulp!

I had trouble finding a Sepmeyer and Louden calculator in the forum so I made my own. Its pretty cheesy but I was tired of pushing in all the numbers in a calculator so I just punch in the ceiling height in inches at the top of page of the attached xls file.

Simple and useful! Kinda like me?
I have framed most of the tracking room and have only made a slight modification to the door. I moved the door over so some kind of corner trap will fit there. duh. I also framed for a window between the 2 rooms.
Aloha Ed,
I'm trying to get kendale's coffin control room to fit in my space.
Hmm, odd, but I had not noticed the similarity before. Spending too much time a dark, comfy control room lately, perhaps? Say, any chance you could post your skp file? Thanks! Aloha 8)
hahahaha awaken Kendale.... Aloha!

Aloha, Perhaps something like this? Control room dimensions are based on Eric Desart's study on Louden's ratios. Here's the link if you'd like to see why: viewtopic.php?p=64490&highlight=#64490 While it is a little smaller than your original design, the ratios are a tad better. Will it make a difference in your room response? More than likely. Will you be able to discern the difference? Perhaps, perhaps not. But its a good starting point towards a good sounding room when all is said and done, provided all of the other factors along the way are executed properly. Hope this helps, Aloha 8) Eric Desart on Louden's Ratios Height Width Length 1.00, 1.35, 1.85 83” x 112” x 153.5” 6’9” x 9’3” x 12’8” M.M.
