Cable Purchase

Post by natas »

I am making my own Mic/inst cables.

Here are my choices;

Canare Quad Mic cable

Gotham Quad Mic cable

Mogami Mic cable.

Which one and why?

Thanks,

Clifford.

Hi Clifford,

They are all "good" cables... some thoughts below...

Excellent cable, but fairly high capacitance that will affect high frequencies over distance. For this reason, many studios that do classical music shy away from the quad stuff. Consider L2T2S instead for a Canare product.

Again, excellent cable, but the same issues as above.

Can't go wrong here... great cable.

Personally, IMHO, I would say stay away from the quad cable... other considerations are size and flexibility. The quad is also more time consuming to solder. The Mogami or Canare L2 would give you the best bang for the buck.

Dave.
