Yeah - that's the way to go providing you are not 2 foot tall :) Make sure they don't fire straight into the back of you console though - your meter bridge height will be a factor here.
I was planning on mounting my monitors vertically but when I sit down
the tweeter seems too high, I measured to the center of the speaker box
but it seems that the tweeter is going to go over my head.
You can mount the horizontally provided they are a mirror image pair - if you do make sure the woofers are in the center with the tweeters on the outer.
Otherwise you have to lean the front forward which gets tricky carpentry wise.

It puts the tweeters right at ear height -- and appears that I would not have to construct vertical angle for the soffits. How common is this from your experience?
