mounting panel absorbers to the wall

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

mounting panel absorbers to the wall

Post by blackdrum »

hi,
i am in the process of building some of john's slot abosorbers.

how should i mount them to the wall??

if i put holes in the wall, sound will escape, right?

can i build legs on the botom of the panels & just have the panels stand against the wall?

should i hang them from the ceiling?

thanks!

Those are all good options. I would think that if your floor is level, the 8" deep absorbers should stand on their own though. But the feet, Maybe a couple of 2x4x 12"s on the bottom of your absorber.
