hi im new

Post by funkytracks »

hi guys i new to this forum and am pleasently supprised at the no bullshit aproche of its members . i have been a pro sound engineer for 20 years and belive me i have heard and seen things that would make you wounder if manufactures are reallly serious about thrier products. im setting up one of the largest recording studios in the middle east at the moment and have just instaled an amek rembrant 40ch , because the budget is getting pritty low i have desided to go for the makie hr824 with the subs as they are working with a lot of dance bands and i found (although on this forum they are not to praised) that for the money i have never had a bad mix out of them. i had a running battle with the partners to go for a new digital desk but in my expereince there is not one digital desk that is any good ( damm i have opened a can of worms me thinks) unless you go for a very expensive euphonics and i still dont rate them . i can go on for a very long time on the technical reasons about the failings of digital desks but that will fill up this forum . finnaly i have spent most of my professional life trying to acheive the best sound i could i find that as technology progresses the studios are technically a hell of a lot better , the way of working is a lot faster and easyer but i find that the new and up comeing engineers are not understanding the fundementals of the work they are doing ( button pushers). also isent it stange thet we have all this new lovely clean sounding equipent and most people lisssen to mp3s does it make sense? sorry about the typing :D

Gotta back my Mackies up. I have mixed my way to two Gold records and a steady clientele using the 824's since 1997.

Ok enuff Glazing mackie. :)

HEY!!. I like the d8b. it's nice for the price. Heck it's all in your ears anyway.

But I personally think the Oxford and the C200 are the only digital desks worth buying. IMHO.

That is if money were not an object. $492k for the C200 I want and a Mil for the Oxford. Yeah TC-Powercore and Sony for the Oxford EQ plug-in.
