Building a Studio and I need help with isolation and design

Post by xiwiwix »

The green boarder is the area I have to work with, the black lines are the walls that are up now and can not be moved. The black squares are brick pillars that I'm having removed, unless it's best to keep them there. I need to keep as much sound out from the rest of the house as possible.

I want to record bands in the drum room and play back in the control room. In the drum/live room, it will be a full band jam volume, I don't know the db though. I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 that I run thru my pc with Cubase SX 3.

I need enough isolation so that the neighbours can't here late night sessions. They house will be 20ft away from my out wall. I need to keep as much sound out from the rest of the house as possible.

Each box is a square foot.

These are some ideas I have come up with so far, I like the last the most:

Thanks! Looks great! Only I won't be able to have both the 15' x 15' room and the 10'x 10' room, it's either or. I really like it!!!

What do you think is better, concrete blocks or a double all with 4" air gap for the 15' x 15' room?

I'd just go with double 4" timber framed walls in your situ.
