Man, this site and the home recording BBS are great. I feel like my head is going to explode but none the less.
This room is pretty big. The west wall will partition the room as far out as you can get from the east before obstruction. i.e. a pipe and some HVAC intakes. (real big ones...silent). The treatment is taken directly from Johns site. (thank you sir). Problem one. The door and balancing the THE SIDE WALL ABSORBER side to side. (should they run floor to ceiling?)
The Block walls. Should I mud some sheet rock to these then mount the absorbers to that. If so how?

Thanks Dave. That looks good. I think we will not be using soffit mounted speakers though. Not right now anyway. So instead of building those I was going to go with bass traps. I'll have to go measure the room again to get the full size. Some of this room has to be used for prop storage. The space is going in a storage room above the stage at the theater I mix for. check it out here. www.ccauditorium.com .

Cedartown looks cool. I'm down in Marietta.
When you post a picture of the actual space I'll take another knock at it if you like.
I wasn't going to do soffits in my small control room, but now I'm kida fascinated with the idea.
I think creating splayed slot resonators on the side walls makes obvious sense for creating a RFZ, as does broadband trapping in the ceiling and rear wall. The question for free standing monitors then becomes what to put on the wall behind the monitorsl? Maybe John can illuminate some ideas? I tried 8" of 703 in my control room behind my monitors, with a reflective rear wall this year going for a psuedo LEDE, but reading that you need allot of space for an effective diffusive field to the back of the head got me thinking --then John suggested I put the monitors in the reflective side facing the 703 -- it improved the sound noticably. Maybe a combination of slots/hangers/703 behind your monitors?

Marietta is like 45 min from here. I like how you have the slots on the sides. I was going to go with 703 (like here http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm) behind the monitors and the same on the back wall. We are about to replace the white Cyc. For those that don't know its a big white curtain that hangs in the rear of the performing area of the stage. So its possible Ill have a 24'x40 (yup..thats in feet) piece of bleached white muslin for all my fabric needs.
Also, Is it cool to use laminate on the slots? How about a suspended ceiling. (not fake)

I think generally speaking slots are best in the front half of the CR.
I'd make the corner traps as big as possible in all four corners. For the Back wall, maybe 4-8" of 703 on the back covered with fabric (spacing the 703 off the wall helps catcg lower freqs. You could also do a panel trap with 703 over that. John also posted a cool picture somewhere of simple 703 2x2 squares over plywood and held in place by fabric. These were then attached to the rear wall with the wall angled in torwards the ceiling. Kept floor space to the max, while providing reasonable broadband absorption I imagine.
Sounds like you have a tall ceiling? If so that can be real useful for putting some hangers up there and floating some cloud panels under that?
If you need to find 703, try Northern Bros. Supply in ATL.
As for the laminate, I'm not sure, as I still figuring how I want to build mine. What kind of laminate? I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it necessarily, as the purpose is to redirect the sound to the rear of the CR; unsealed wood will have a little more sabins of absorption most likely.
