STUDIO WIRING PLAN

Post by ssimlai »

Hi I am planning my studio and would need some help. To begin with I would request if someone could help me with a spreadsheet template for planning the wiring for my studio. I am looking for something ready made so that I can just start filling in data.

Greetings and Welcome.

Can you be more specific in what you are wiring?

Most any studio is a custom installation. You'll have to give more details as to what you're trying to do.

I don't know if your wiring up a 96 channel analog console, or an 8 channel Digital Workstation.

As well as how many tracking rooms, outboard gear, cue systems, tape machines, or ???

There's no two alike.

Well I am looking at wiring up everything in my studio. What I have is a whole lot of equipment based around two computers, an analog mixer, two patchbays, four sets of audio cards (from 1997 onwards) etc. So I need an empty template in excel that I can fill up: e.g. From, To, Cable number, type etc. While I can cook up something of my own I would prefer to work based on a template.

Unfortunately, I don't have any templates, but I've seen some floating around. There may be one or two here, but you might check recording.org and see if there's any over there. There's alot more setups w/ what you've mentioned you have.

Sorry I can't be of more help on the templates. Someone else here may have something they can offer though. So don't get too discouraged yet. You could also do a google search and probably find some as well.
