Painted vs. exposed surfaces

Post by Jesse Cannon »

So I am working on the acoustics of my live room.

I am very into the school of live room sound ala Steve Albini's electrical aka very live and agressive room.

Right now the room is a non floated wood floor that is painted ina thick blue paint. I was in another room in the building with the same floor today and the paint had been removed and the floor was stained.

Would this benefit the acoustics or just the aesthetics?

As well I have on Brick Wall which is painted as well. Would it benefit the acoustics to expose the brick?

Thanks so much for the info in advance!!!!!

Jesse,

I can't see how a layer of paint on top of an already-reflective surface would do much if anything one way or the other.
