Drum riser and recordings

Post by billiamwalker »

Tomorrow i'm thinking about spending $10 on a slab of wood and i was going to build a small riser to record drums on. My main reason is that half my floor is carpet and half of it is concrete but most of hte concrete is being covered up by carpet making no REAL reflections. So i wanted to go ahead about build about a 10 x 10 riser (cut in 4 peice for easy storage) to see if i can get some authentic reflections from under the drums.

Would this be worth it?

Sure; but put about 1.5 times as thick house insulation (fiberglass) under the wood as your frame, so the insulation is partly compressed; otherwise, you'll get a boomy sound... Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...
