Suggestions for trap placement?

Post by PhilR »

Hi there. We're just completing work on the console requirements for our control room and are looking at optimising our wall treatments as much as possible. Unfortunatly we're pretty much stuck with a fairly small room in a rented residential building so we're unable to do anything about parallel surfaces and such. We've been advised elsewhere that 45* traps in the corners will be required as a starting point.

I'm including some diagrams of the room with the desk included, if anyone could provide some pointers on treatment positioning and size we'd be grateful. :)

Small room, non-symmetrical - as a START, I'd build some movable absorption panels as shown here... Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...

Whoah, slightly more ambitious than I envisaged!

Most of those suggestions, particularly the movable screen ideas, simply arn't possible for us however. We're drastically short on usable space in the house as it is and as we'll be recording bands the movable traps would make it impossible to have other people in the room, not to mention forcing out every other piece of gear that isn't built into the main desk.

We'll definitly be adding the corner traps though. And working on placing others where the obvious reflections will be occuring. Thanks for the input!
