Help with small studio design

Post by Johnny Glow »

Great site. I am wanting to turn an existing room attached to my detached garage into a home studio. It's 9'3" wide, 20'7" long and the ceiling height is a low 7'4". Ideally I would like to have a control room and a live/iso room where 2 or 3 people (no drums) could rehearse/record. Soundproofing must be done to keep good neighbor relations. Is this feasible with this small space? What would be the best way to set this up? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome Johnny - check out the garage 1 and garage 2 plans at the http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... 0Plans.htm

either would be a starting point for your room.

cheers

Thanks for responding. I've checked out the SAE site. Good stuff. I guess I'm wondering if given the small size, it makes sense to have two rooms with double walls, etc. How small a control room can I have before it becomes too small to be practical?

I think in your case it's a matter of how small a studio can I have :) just work out what the best size for the control room is and what's left is the studio/booth.

i'd follow this line
