I have made some ceiling traps, the issue here is that I am about to hang several of them on the ceiling. 6 points per 90cm X 1350 traps, weighting about 10-12-kgs each trap. How good are toggle bolts or should I use those screws, that you screw the mount onto the ceiling and then you screw the screw or hook into that mount. Refer to diagram 1.1
diagram 1.1

application = screw, or hook screws into the mount

note this diagram is vertical but I will apply it horizontally
I currently have toggle bolts placed up. The issue I have with togglebolts is that you have to dig a bigger hole than the actual screw itself for the toggle, push it in, and let the toggle wings expand. So the screw actually does not fit the hole snug and tight. Is this really a strong method for hooks. Also because I dont have a drill bit big enough plus I didnt want to drill a big hole just so I can squeeze that toggle in when really the shape of the hole should be rectangular than circle matching the shape of the toggle, so theres some wasted space there and I am afraid that if I drill the hole too big that when I tighten it, the screw (hook) goes right through the hole.
I am using 75mm 3/16 toggles. Is this good for this to be used as my ceiling hooks. If I could I would rather drill hooks onto the stud, but I can only get like 1 out of the 6 points hitting a stud. Are there methods on strengthening this toggle application, maybe fill the space inside the toggles hole with poly fillers. Anyone know how to maximise the strengths of toggles. Will the ceiling slowly deteriorate with this type of application.
Are the toggles strong enough.
With me forcefully pushing the toggle into a smaller hole so that it goes through rather than drill the hole big enough to fit the toggle, has that weakened the plaster surrounding the hole and thus maybe weaken the strength of its grip as a toggle mounted onto the ceiling.
Which is the best for this particular use and can hold the best weight for its size comparison, toggle bolts, gravity bolts or those screw mounts set things as in diagram 1.1

We covered a whole studio ceiling with 2" panels and used toggle bolts (4 to a panel), hung with chain to make sure of straghtness. I like the toggle bolts because I know that the panel is not going to fall. We put washers on the toggle bolts to cover up the hole and it gave it a pretty clean look.

My wife hangs potted plants from these (12mm/ half-inch gypsum) regularly; some of her plants weigh 10-15 pounds total, and they're hanging from a single hook - I wouldn't worry too much about distributing 30 pounds among 6 such hooks... Steve
