another vocal booth gobo challenge

Post by egcc »

All,

The first diagram shows my room layout. The permanent wall absorbers/diffusers, and console area are all based on the designs from the SAE college links. However, I need to set up temporary vocal booths for acapella groups (see diagram). I'm not looking for total isolation, just to separate the singers enough that the bleed between mics is considerably reduced. The question is, well, just exactly what would be the best approach for those stackable gobos. I was intending the basic approach of 2' high, 3' long, 1' thick, but that's too thick, and the gobos would take up too much space, as I only have about 14' or 15' to fit the four booths. Each side face of the gobos was going to be half low mid absorber (2'x1'6') and half high aborber (2'x1'6"), as in the next diagram. Also was going to have one windowed gobo. However, I thought some of you might have some suggestions, so I thought I would ask before I tackle building the stuff.

I guess I'm wondering if maybe a couple 3" thick high absorbers (plywood with insulation attached) wouldn't be about as effective as the gobos in each booth? Any ideas, thoughts, I would appreciate. Thanks.

Teh gobos have alternate surfaces to give you more verstility. Definitely go with the gobos.

ps: It is great to read about someone planning their work, as opposed to fixing their work! :D

Hey egcc:

I was wondering how you would do the stacking thing. Specifically, how would you keep the top of the stack from falling over. This was not obvious to me from the pictures you posted.

Thanks.
