sorry guys if this questions is dumb but i need to ask
is rockwool the same as roxul mineral wool?
because i seen some pics of rockwool and it looks like it has somekind of coating on the face of one side. and i see some pics of roxul mineral wool and it dont have any thing on the face at all i'm looking to buying the best insullation for my walls in my garage i found a place near by that sells roxul mineral wool for cheap. thanx

is rockwool the same as roxul mineral wool?
Yes. Mineral wool is the generic term used in North America for insulation made from minerals that are not silicon. Rockwool was a trademarked word for mineral wool owned by the company that is now named Roxul. Other trademarked names for mineral wool include Thermafiber and Fibrex.

It is like:

Kleenex = facial tissue paper
Aspirin = ASA
Sharpie = felt tip marker
Rockwool = mineral wool

To help confuse matters, in Europe, silicon based insulation (fiberglas, another trademarked word) is included in the phrase mineral wool.

I hope this clears it up a bit.
