Hangers....

Post by Sen »

John, did you design the Sonar recording studio? What is the finish on the back wall where the acoustic hangers are? I wasn't able to work it out from the PDF plans...
THanks very much
Kind regards

Yeah - the original plan doesn't exactly transfer to PDF. Sen - It's just a sealed box with insulation lining back and sides, hangers hung and a cloth front for asthetic look.

Yes - there is no need to put insulation in the front frame. Just stretch cloth over a 2" x 1" frame.

I'm not sure what you mean. - do you mean the hangers themselves?? They are made from soft fiberboard (Canite) (1/2") with insulation wrapped around and hung at around 8" spacing. It's all described at the SAE site - look up hangers in the index.

John, you said the hanger boxes were "sealed". Did you mean sealed airtight with a plywood panel on the face? Or did you just mean sealed off by acoustic fabric on the front to hold the glass fibers in?

jazzman - I mean sealed in that the only way air can enter is through the gaps between the boards (the slots).
