How To Loose 17 Points In STC

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

We regulars know the multiple wall construction graphic showing how consruction can affect STC by 20 points. I was going through IR811 (thanks Brian R for giving me the impetus!) PDF pages 70-72 show a similar effect but only 17 points. :(
