Studio Sketchup Model Request

Post by jagould2000 »

Thoroughly enjoying browsing through all the designs you've shared and the massive amount of knowledge you've shared. Thanks for all of it.

I found the attached image of one of your designs in a google search that I really love the layout. I wouldn't know how to search for it on here, so forgive me if its already been posted, but would you be willing to share the Sketchup file for this design as you have others?

Thanks!

Hi jagould2000. I VERY much doubt that John would share that model publicly. He's already being extremely generous by simply sharing the image! That's a design he did for one of his paying customers. That design represents many dozens/hundreds of hours of work. and asking for that is sort of like asking Ferrari for the plans of one of their cars.

If you have a similar size space and wanted a design for a studio that will fit into it, then you should contact John directly and ask him to quote you for designing that. If you want to learn how to design the place yourself, without paying a designer to do it for you, then that's what the forum is for! Reading the instructions on how to use the forum (click here) might help you.

Understand. Just didn't know if that was one he had already shared or was willing to. Completely understand if it a customer job and proprietary.

And to be clear, I would never try to embark on a project like that on my own or with just a sketchup model. Just was interested in being able to zoom in a little and look around the model. Even for a small project (which that is not) I'm a big believer in hiring a professional designer to work with. I worked in high end residential construction for 10+ years designing and installing $100k - $500k home theaters and listening rooms and am quite familiar with the level of detail that gets communicated during the job long after the drawings are finished :D You would be insane to try to build such a project from just a drawing.

Ok, no problem. It's clear you do understand what goes into a design, so that's great.

Are you planning to build a studio yourself? If so, feel free to start a thread about that, commencing with your initial goals, ideas, concepts, etc. and we'll be happy to help you work through that process.

PM me if you'd like to see more detailed views of studio designs. There's a couple of designs that I did for customers that I can share in private, but not in public, for various reasons.
