New small studio build Ireland

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

New small studio build Ireland

Post by paweaz1 »

Hi folks great site been a lurker for years finally got around to building my own studio space sadly had to make some compromises due to available space if i could run a few things past you guys would be great to hear your thoughts...
i want the best isolation i can get as i hope to track drums now and then my neighbors are about 10m away so not too close but still need to keep the noise as low as possible

The studio is small freestanding structure 4.5m by 4m and 2.4m ceiling on a solid concrete slab based on 2 100mm solid concrete block walls with a 100mm cavity filled with rockwool rwa4 100mm there's a standard solid pvc door and a 1500mm by 1000m triple glazed pvc window

The interior is where i am not sure, my plans were dot and dab/affix standard 11mm gyroc/plasterboard onto the inner concrete wall then greenglue and another layer of 12mm acoustic plasterboard on top of that....

Is this ok ? i tried to avoid a triple leaf system by eliminating internal framing not sure i i have or not lol

also my ceiling is where i'm not sure what method to use my plan was

A flat roof/ warm roof/,from the inside up-11mm plasterboard ceiling, wooden joists with 100mm rockwool inbetween,100mm air cavity solid MDF boards, xtra therm 100mm insulation sheets and then an EPDM rubber roof........

Like i said guys any help would be great
