FOUND: Insulation provider for NSW

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

FOUND: Insulation provider for NSW

Post by Samm »

After a solid few months of trying to nail down a provider who had 48kg/m3 insulation and would sell individual packs, I found one. Figured I'd share it here so other people can get in on it.

Just-Rite have an online website where you can order boards of Bradford's Ultratel 2400x1200x75, containing 2 boards with no facing p/pack. Not insanely cheap, but the only option I could find. Ignore the 250 minimum order in their FAQ, when I went through the order process you could order a single pack.

A word of warning though, their customer service was crap. The item was not delivered to my address. What's worse, the delivery driver knew it and no-one had bothered to contact me. I ended up contacting Just-Rite myself, who informed me that the driver had dropped it off at the neighbours house 5 days ago.

Good luck, get in while you can!

Cheers,
Sam

Thanks for the heads up Sam.
I am just beginning this journey myself.

The site isn't exactly user-friendly and brimming with information but at least they have a contact number.

Their customer service is atrocious and the website has appeared half-finished for some time. I got different information when I called, primarily that there was a minimum order. There didn't seem to be a minimum order when I did it through their website. Unfortunately, their delivery driver decided to use some initiative and delivered it to another house in the street, just because their were some builders out the front. There was no notification that he'd done this, I just called up after a week to see what was going on...

Just-Rite's prices are nuts. Ambisol is cheaper and Network Building Supplies are even cheaper than Ambisol. I paid about $300 for 6 Boards at 2.4mx1.2mx50mm, but the delivery fee from NSW to Melbourne was about $300 too. Customer service was quite good. These items take up a lot of space so interstate shipping is inevitably costly.

By the way, if anyone knows of any retailers selling Fletchers FI48 insulation please chime in. I asked Fletchers directly for distributors in Victoria and they never answered me. Would be good to do a cost comparison with Ultratel. As far as I know, Ultratel and FI48 are the best known OC703 equivalents in Australia but if you know of any others it would be great to hear about them too. Cheers.
