Modified Super Door

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Modified Super Door

Post by groundhog »

I'm thinking of screwing a sheet of 3/4" plywood with green glue onto my 1-3/4" solid core wood door, but without the lead.

Which hinges exactly should I upgrade to for the added weight, and would I be ok using the stock 5/8" jamb the door came with, instead of the suggested 5/4 stock?
Do they make 3.5x3.5" heavy duty hinges, because I could then use the existing mortise (I have 4 such hinges on the door now, 3 screws each)?
Would using a layer of MLV instead between the door and plywood be better than green glue?
