Hello there smart and experienced friends... long time lurker rare poster here:
So i am building my 3rd studio - this one is a buildout of my unfinished basement in the house i just moved to. it'll be a standard room within a room following the normal specs ala per Sayers and Rod Gervais etc. i'm doing triple drywall with green glue in between each layer, etc all the normal stuff. here's my question though: I am not floating the floors because I am building on the basement concrete slab that's sitting on a rock foundation and i know that it takes a lot to vibrate the basement concrete and i am also trying to keep as much of my limited basement height as possible. So if i am not floating my floor does it benefit me to build my walls on top of neoprene pads with closed cell backer rod and silenseal caulking as opposed to just putting the walls directly on the concrete? does this extra step have any benefit if i am not floating the floor?
Thanks for your advice!!!!
neoprene pads under walls with no floating floor??

There's no advantage to floating walls, unless you have deep pockets, and need really high levels of isolation.
I'm not sure if you have read this thread: it's more about floating floors, but the same principle applies to floating walls:

Also, it would help to know more about the goals for your build: Do you need high levels of isolation? What is your goal for isolation, in terms of decibels?
