How, using absorbtion do I make a brick pillar disappear from the front wall?
Moving in to a new small room in a couple of weeks and I'm planning what to do with treatment.
I can do what I want to the room but may not be there long term and so I won't be doing major construction or soffits etc, just trapping the hell out of it.
Room is for mixing only, no recording.
No isolation is needed.
Front wall is brick, and other walls are breeze/cinder block.
My main concern is the brick pillar on the front wall.
I'm not yet able to get in the room to measure response but it looks to me like it's located almost exactly where I'll want to put my right monitor.
It's a very small room and I'm pretty sure I'll need to have the speakers tight to the front wall. This pillar will mean the left and right monitors are at different distances to the brick wall behind them and I'm worried about the possible phasing/sbir issues this might cause.
My first thought was to hang 12" or so of fluffy insulation across the whole wall, but this covers the radiator which I can do but is not ideal.
I can spend up to £300 and I already have 4 x big rolls of loft insulation and 10 x 100kg panels from my current studio.
I will of course be measuring the rooms response before I start on it but I'm unable to do this for a week or so and just wanted to get some ideas on what I might have to do with this pillar to maintain symmetry.
Thanks for any help.
