Skylight Above Mix Position

Post by PaperChase »

In my studio we have a skylight above the mix position that is 3' deep and 4'X4'
in length and width. This is where the returns to the AC are located in the room, so I can't completely cover it up, but I would like to treat it for a better mix position sound.
I am thinking about building an absorber with OC and hanging it above the mix position so that it is larger than the hole that goes up to the skylight and hangs down to leave a gap for air to go up to the AC intakes.
I also have some extra wood from diffuser building that I can hang above the mix position.
Any ideas from you pro acousticians about the best way to treat something like this are appreciated. I don't want to completely kill my skylight and I'm thinking about something that is easy to move so I could take it off while I'm tracking and let the light in. Thanks

Hi PaperChase,

There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible.
The announcement leads to this post (click here). Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will most likely not reply if you don't do what is written in that post. Many others who are very helpful, will most likely not reply out of respect for the moderators' wishes.

That said, what are you trying to do with that skylight? Are you trying to isolate it, or just use the space for treatment?
