Panels for my room...

Post by Julián Fernández »

Hey guys, how are you?

I need some advice about tuning my room...
Here´s a rough sketch of my homestudio...Heigh is 2.2mts.

I´m planning to make 5 panels to start treating my place, but I have a couple of questions...

Each panel will be 2x3´ (x5.5"). Any issue about the size?

I´m shopping for fabric, and I started to wonder about the back of the traps... Should I leave them open? Is there any risk of having fiberglass particles floating around my place if there´s no fabric to hold them in place?

And the last one is referred to superchunks (as I think that will be my next step)
This is the cheapest wool I can find... 14 kg/m3...

Is this good enough for superchunks (60x60x80cm)?

Thanks so much!

FWIW, I left the back of my panels open - since there will be no rubbing, contact or other disturbance, there is virtually no problem with dispersion of the fibers. Fine for wall mounted panels. For clouds however I would recommend a thin plastic membrane encasing the wool.

If you're concerned, you can use jute burlap or hessian, but I recommend another cloth obtainable from a garden center used for covering plants to protect from insects and birds - not sure what it's called other than garden fabric, but is usually white or black made of spun polypropylene and is almost paperlike. It comes in various thicknesses - the lightweight should be fine.

the 14kg/m3 is going to be light... you (minimally) want the denser insulation for the panels and the face of the corner traps. then fill in the back with the lighter insulation. you want the first reflection points including side walls, ceiling, floor, and the back wall. absorption up front between the monitors is a good choice.

2mx3m (meters) or 2'x3' (foot)?

If you are concerned about floating fiberglass particles you can close it up with the same breathable cloth as you will add to the front.

As Gulfo mentioned: tho density has no real impact, get a denser type. about 48kg/m3 which has been tested as the preferred density.

Thanks Ro!

The size is 2'x3' (foot)... 5.5 inches deep.
What do you think about that size?
