Recording drums room. Too much reverb is ok?

Hi guys,

I've just see a recording drums video, and the camera mic takes a lot of reverb, but in the album it sounds excelent. I don't know how much natural reverb is good to recording rock drums.

the close microphones don't pick up as much room sound but it is often a subtle enhancement to the sound and the cymbal mics and the room mics do capture the room sound and add the ambiance. an video recording omni mic typically won't provide the same result - but then again, if the room sound is really nice, using a single mic can often be advantageous for the right performance and right mix result.
