Knauf Insulation Board w/ Ecose
I didn't see a thread on this, but I wanted to post a topic about it so it could be discussed. Supposedly, this stuff performs almost exactly like OC703 but without the chemicals that are in the binder of OC703. I am also attaching the data sheets so you guys can make your own call. Obviously the numbers are a bit different in the low to low mids area (I think). But it does perform better above that mark than the OC703. Now...is that a good thing? Or no? I'm not sure. That's why I'm posting. Thing is...I'm gonna order either OC703 or this Knauf stuff. I'd prefer the Knauf stuff because of the binder. But the big caveat is, does it perform at least the same?

the ECOSE stuff is nice and should work fine. it's usually pricier though than the normal Knauf products.

It comes in 10 sheets per box and I have someone willing to sell me 9 boxes under $70/box with shipping at around $350, which is the lowest I've found.gullfo wrote:the ECOSE stuff is nice and should work fine. it's usually pricier though than the normal Knauf products.
Thoughts, Glenn?

Re: Knauf Insulation Board w/ Ecose
I just ordered some Rocksilk RS60. I already have a fair few traps and panels made from the older style, but since moving to a bigger room I need more. I ordered unaware that this Ecose stuff exists. But lo and behold the Ecose stuff is what was delivered. I posted on a couple of forums and it would seem that it is just as effective as the old yellower stuff.
Has anyone else on these forums used it? Or anyone else care to confirm or argue whether it is as effective or better than the old RS60?

That's good news mate! I went with the 100mm.....
I'm guessing we'll see more and more Ecose in studios then? At least here in the UK, I managed to get it just as cheap (if not cheaper) than standard mineral wool. And if it performs just as well then it seems a no brainer to go with the "healthier" option every time.....

Re: Knauf Insulation Board w/ Ecose
yeah, the push for bio-based bindings to reduce VOC and environmental impact is going to drive the adoption. plus it may be cheaper for the manufacturer so that will also drive it.
