OC 703 alternatives?
Hi...I'm in the midwest, in central Indiana. I'm wondering if there were some kind of OC 703-like materials that were readily available. I noticed RXL Drainboard but it's not available in the US. Suggestions?

Better acoustic properties that 703, not semi-rigid.
They descibe it as "dimesionably stable" or sorta-rigid.

Hi People!
I got 2 boxes (12 pieces) of 2'x4 - 2" thick of this stuff (foil faced) -
http://www.johnsmanville.com/insulation ... _board.pdf
It spec'ed out a little better than the OC equivalent.
I glued 2 together to get six 4 inch thick pieces.
Seems to be ok.
Don't know if is actually any better, though.
Aloha,
Stabb

Stabb,
Did you get this from AMS on Dillingham Blvd? If not, where did you find this?

Stix,
Yes. AMS on Dillingham Blvd.
Paid the 'Paradise Price', too.
Over $200. for the two boxes.
I also paid about $450 for two of Ethan's Minitraps.
The whole thing was a lot of effort w/ the glueing and the fumes and looking for fabric and then cutting the fabric and everything.
(Sorry, had to vent that)
I've got the six pieces hanging in my control room.
One day I'll order more for the studio side.
I guess it'll be easier next time not having to do the long 'figuring it out before I do it' process.

Hey Stabb,
OUCH! $2.00 / sf - Matson strikes again!
I just ordered a bunch of foam bass traps and broadband absorbers (so they say) from FoambyMail.com. Very reasonable. I know the folks here don't like foam, but I'm just not comfortable with fiberglass in my living area. Besides, at those prices, fiberglass is no longer the most economical alternative, in my opinion.
I'll let you know how it works out. Hopefully, I didn't buy a whole bunch of useless 'cushion filling'!
