Hi All,
I have access to a large piece of land in the Victorian country side. I've been thinking about building a small recording studio there. I'm into live jazz and other acoustic music. The group I play with is a 6 piece jazz group - this group would be typical of the kind of groups that I would like to record. Size is not really a restriction but cost is. I have all the recording equiptment that I need, it is really just a mattter of building a good space. External noise and leakage is a consideration, but not to an extreme. I'm quite capable of building etc and have contacts that can help me out there - so it is really the material costs that will be the major consideration. I can imagine being quite happy with a control room and a single large live room. However it seems folly to build something and not building atleast a vocal / iso booth. What do people thing - is this something that is possible on a fairly low budget ?
Thanks for your input.

You'll probably get more action if you were to be more specific - is that a low budget as in,"need new shoes but can't afford the payments", or low budget as in, "damn second yacht's in drydock again, hafta wait on the trip to Majorca til it's finished because I can't afford a third one just now" - So what's YOUR version? Sorry - I know I was horribly vauge ! I'm really trying to get a feel for the buget required to build anything from scratch. The Garage Studio 1 or 2 with a much bigger main studio is about what I've got in mind. The alternative for me is to build portable room treatments that I can use in the other spaces I have access too - I'm not really convincned how effective this will be though, how effect are free standing bass traps and wall treatments etc that are not attached to the walls !
