Help constructing studio

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Help constructing studio

Post by Ferry »

Hi!

I want to start buiding on a 2nd studio.
The room is multi purpose... so it got to handle vocalists, drums and whatever else you find these days :?

My concern is the outside window and the wall next to my neighbours bedroom.

What is the best way to achieve total sound blockage?
Maybe one of you guys can make a design layout for me.

See the attachment for details.

Regards,
Ferry

Ferry, if you look around the site you'll find info on window inserts, as well as several "sticky" posts that have lots of info on basic sound proofing and construction techniques. If you want to post some drawings you've done yourself after some study, we'll be glad to point out possible problems and/or improvements. We're not a free design service, however - you'll have to do part of the work yourself with the tools we've provided... Steve
