I made it back ..finnally

Post by Byrdsworth »

Hi everyone…I’ve been a member here for a fair while now….and love reading all the info and ideas everyone discusses here ..it is a great source of knowledge and amusement
A few months ago I posted some pic’s of ideas for my studio project got some good ideas from John ..thanks for that mate ..but my project has been on hold due to the arrival of my son Luke…
Anyway I will be starting construction early in the new year and have since been torn between a couple of plans I have drawn ..I have included the pic’s and would love to here any feedback from you all ….

The ceiling height ..finnished will be 2.5 m and I plan on making the whole ceiling dead
The agled side walls will be slots bass traps under the soffits..and the rest of the room dead…

Just some extra thoughts ..the booth in Plan A would be Handy..but I think it would make every thing a bit small and uncomfortable ...Also my wife sometimes works from home and needs somewhere to do her thing
hence the other plan with the office at the back...would it be a good idea to hang a heavy curtain across the back wall infront of the office area or just make all the walls as dead as possible...
Cheers

Hi Byrds - I'd go with the first plan - all one room. You've got nice depth and volume - just deaden that rear office area :)

Hi John..Thanks for your reply..I was leaning towards that design too...good to see I was on the right track...do you think I should make the whole ceiling dead???..or maybe sloping the ceiling above the mix position/??also as this area is under my house I need good sound proofing from upstairs I was going to pack between the floor joists with insulation then sheet that with drywall..then run ferring channel and sheet that again with dry wall ...then 703 insulation on the out side of that leaving an airspace between the layers of drywall...I'll try and get a section drawing of what I trying to explain...
anyway thanks again
Cheers
