The first thing i must say what an awesome site you have here. Truley in debt for ever with this site. Thanks.
Now to the business side of this message.
I'm currently trying to design a studio in my back garage with the available space of 17'x24'. I obviously want my control room in it aswell as a live area for drums, and possibly 2 xiso booths. 1 for vox and the other for guitars etc.
I've done a quick design using SmartDraw and was wondering the best way i could do this. Any help or designs would be greatly appreciated.
Attached is 2x*.gif of this. 1 is the main floorplan and the other is a sideview with the help of Kax's image in another post. Thanks Kax
Thanks for listing guys, looking forward to hearing back from anyone.

1. Is the outside wall's door sealed well and solid? If so, you have a triple leaf barrier between the outside world and the control room, which will actually LESSEN the isolation.
2. How you gonna get into the tracking room?
3. OK, I lied about only seeing two - if that long hallway (with no door to the tracking room) goes nowhere, why waste all that space when you could use it to "un-parallel" at least one set of walls?
4. (OK, now I'm goin' to HELL for lying TWICE) - Where's the access to the computer/power closet?
CR geometry looks pretty good, work on the other stuff and you're there... Steve
Thanks for the reply. The design was only a rough draft. I ran out of time yesterday when i was putting down my first draft and wanted some feedback so i put it up incomplete.
I will be putting a door into the computer/power room, like a closet door or folding doors as i have a small space with like 4 doors.
Also i will be putting a door near the end of the hallway into the tracking room with will proberly have 2x iso booths and a drum/live room. I might also extend the tracking area to the existing wall and block the hallway.
My first thoughts were to have a very small kitchette at the end with a fridge and sink etc, but i might can that idea and make the tracking area's slightly bigger.
Currently the walls are as follows,
Left wall (as you see it) is brick (those big grey bricks) thats the wall next to my neighbours. Which are cool. It leads into there backyard anyway. I used to have my band rehearse in the same spot and they were really good about it. Right wall (as you see it) is tin outter shell with a wooden frame with no insulation and thin chipboard covering it. Top wall (as you see it) is a wooden frame with plastic sheeting (like weather board) covering it, back not covered up. Bottom wall (as you see it) is a plain garage door.
The Left wall i'll add some treatment to the outside before the studio walls go up.
The Right wall i'll pull down the thin chipboard insulate it then apply Soundcheck Plaster Board.
The Top wall i'll remove the plastic sheeting insulate it then apply Soundcheck Plater Board to both sides.
The Bottom wall i'll be completly removing the garage door and filling it in with proberly a timer frame and doing what i did to the right wall.
A floating floor will also be added onto the existing concrete slab.
In your opinion are the dimentions going to be ok. would this be the way you'd would utilise this space?
well it really depends on what you intend to record but this would allow some separation with the two booths
check out the booths at Left Bank if you need some ideas.
Thanks for all your help and what not, just dropping a line to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Will be getting more serious bout my studio in the new year so i'll be back then to get some more help from you guys (Possibly sooner. Love this site).
