this is my first post, although i've been reading over much of the site and finding it very helpful. so, thanks!
i [along with my 2 partners in a studio venture] am about to commence fitting out what is currently an empty building shell, building an internal control room and vocal booth, and i have a question about the design of the CR.
i haven't posted a plan of the space as yet, although i will soon as i'm keen to see what people think of the plan. i have drawn the floorplan up in smartdraw already, but when i went to draw my planned CR layout i hit a snag, being: i am unable to angle walls to less than about 7 degrees. our planned control room has walls splayed by only about 2-3 degrees each, which smartdraw can't handle. this is not a big deal - i can use illustrator [although unfortunately not at work in my many 'quiet moments'
but i thought i'd fish for views on whether this will be sufficient splaying of the cr walls. i should say that a) this design is modelled on an existing studio [which i won't name] that produces extremelely high quality output,a nd b) the simplicity of the design suits our very, very low-budget situation, and works well with the overall use of the space.
the dimensions of the CR we have in mind are 14 feet [~4.3 metres] at the front end, 15 feet [~4.6 metres] at the rear end, and about 19 feet [~5.8 metres] from front to back. does anyone see a compelling reason NOT to proceed with such a simple floorplan?
many thanks!
