Is this recommended??..I read on the Genelec's website that the bricks are nearly as good as concrete for soffits, which they would be I guess as they are very solid..I'm building from scratch, so that would be an option if anyone thinks it's a good idea. Probably easier to construct as well..??
Bricks are great, but fairly permanent. I would strongly suggest leaving a big enough opening for future monitor upgrades. Also, you should finish the brick with a smooth surface. An exposed brick surface will cause unwanted high frequency reflections from the front wall.

Absolutely Thomas...an absorber would have to go on the soffit walls...and I was thinking of leaving a bigger opening and then making a cabinet that would be tightly fitted into the opening...If upgrading in future, the cabinet pulls out and the new speaker slides in..
I think I might give it a go..
