I wasn't trying to say I didn't like your ideas; they're definitely better than my first sketch. I'm just trying to figure some other things out...

I didn't explain that new picture. The gray area is a completely newly-built area that I'm planning on, with the dimensions of about 10 x 24. Thus, the barn could be used for just the control room and 2 recording rooms, and the new area built could be the lobby/lounge, and bathroom. Make sense?

That is much better :) Almost exactly what I'm looking for :) I was looking at my desk though, and I think the control room may have to be slightly larger, I'm not sure. I have a U-desk that I and my father built a few years ago that's pretty large. Will this fit well in those dimensions?

Also, would it change the sounds negatively at all to put a small storage closet for mics in the top-right corner of the main recording room?
(like this:)

Just a thought ..but why not flip the design so that the kitchen/bath/lounge is on the right and the live room is on the left without the posts. Its easier to work around a post when your making coffe then it is to always have it in the way when you are tracking. my 2 cents

Yes you could do that - not sure which would be more convenient though - the two posts in a small room like the lounge area would be more in the way than in the bigger studio area.

I agree with John. I think, with the lounge being as small as I'm planning, those posts would just be in the way. I'm most likely going to run some cords up those posts and along the ceilings (if that works out okay), to help keep cords off the floor. Also, the grand piano will probably be placed in the lower right corner, near the post, so there won't be a whole lot of walking around that one post anyway.

Yeah - you'll have to box those poles in (else they will transfer the sound out of the room.) so build your mic /headphone boxes into them - you can hang cables/headphones off them as well.
