New room in basement

How to use REW, What is a Bass Trap, a diffuser, the speed of sound, etc.

I have the option of having a sloped ceiling. 9' from east wall, slopes to 8' to about 1/2 the length of room. 8' from there to the back wall. Would there be any benefit to this configuration?

Nope; any sloped ceiling should be sloped UPWARD to the rear, not downward. Doing what you asked about will cause MORE early reflections at the mix position, and require more absorption on the ceiling than a flat ceiling would require... Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...
