What you are describing with muliple materials is a multiple tuned device, not a braod band absorber. Not what you want.

A single organ pipe is a single tuned device. A full rank of organ pipes are multituned.

Or in this instance, each time you add another space or another layer of different material, you create an absorber with a different effective frequency; this isn't necessarily bad, just UNPREDICTABLE. And, since no one else has the SAME MATERIALS you do (cane-ite) it won't do any good for someone else, even if they have the time, to do your experiments FOR you.

Again, I've done calculations for NORMAL traps for you; if you want to experiment, then do it and post back with your results/experiences... Steve
