Search function needs improvement

Get your "what mic?" frustration or "have you heard" out here. The language could get real okka in here mate.

if the search function would be optimized I could live with php, too (I don't know the differences anyway).
apart from that -> another donation's on the way.

I love phpBB, it looks more pro than the other mentioned.
I agree! But, if the "other mentioned" is even half-decent it should be possible to modify it so that it looks and acts pretty much like this one: same colors, same basic features same logic, same structure, etc. I kind of got used to this place too, and I would not like it to change much! But if this will get rid of the lousy spammers, and give us a much better search engine, then I reckon it might be worth a try, at least.

well I just updated to the latest php BB3 software - we were on 3.0.3. and the new one is 3.0.7.

The spam elimination is better and the search is better as I understand it.

John,
Is it possible for you to eliminate the "common" words in the search function?
For instance, if you search for "doors", you can't

Lets see how this upgrade goes. I donated anyway so if we're not moving to vbulleting at least it helps the hosting service.

Ro, obnoxious ? I'm just triying to help here. thanks

Cheers

Maybe you can expand the search function to help me find my car keys?

I'm kidding, I don't own a car...but thanks for looking out for us!

Cool! I like the new "view unread posts" feature, too! Makes it easier to find recent stuff I might have missed.

Haven't tried the updated search engine yet, but I'll give it a whirl next time I need to search for Brien's car keys....

Thanks for upgrading and improving the search!

Whooo! Have been away for a while due to lot of work at my job!
I had no idea which big rock I broke of the mountain, by starting the thread.

Thanks a lot for improving the engine, John!

I agree.
Thank you very much.
It's now possible for dumb people like me to search for stuff that 99% of you guys already know.
It really does help a great deal and cuts down on unnecessary posting.
Now I can search for "soffit" and read all 1,000,000 threads.

Thanks again,
Seamus
