I got my first pair of serious monitors!!!

Hello all,
I wanted to share the joy of getting my main monitors for my studio that's in the early stages of construction.
I bought a pair of Genelec 1037B, triamped monitors.Second hand, not a scratch on them, working perfectly...very good price. I'm wrapped! Eventhough they should be really considered as midfield, I think they'll do a good job as main soffit mounted pair in my 4.5m X 5.4m CR.
Now what's bugging and itching me is the horizontal mounting. The mid and high drivers are movable and can be turned 90 degrees for horizontal mounting. I would like to hear your opinions (Thomas and everybody else) on this horizontal version. I guess I can allways try it both ways, but I'm thinking that vertical (normal) mounting is just right somehow. (horizontal looks much better I reckon)

...what's going thru my mind is the 3D sort of imaging..you know when you listen to a mix you sort of hear bass and kick down low in the "picture" and then higher freqs. flying up above it...would this change (probably not or,...?) if the bass drivers were in the same (horizontal) line with mid and high drivers.
I hope you undersatnd what my sick brain means here

Congratulations on your new speakers Sen!

The woofer crossover is 420Hz. This has a wavelength of 82cm, which is much larger than the distance separating the woofer from the midrange and tweeter. So the orientation of the woofer makes no difference.

However, the position of the woofer and ports could have some influence on the excitation of room modes. But this still doesn't mean the bottom is the best orientation. The left, right, or even top position could turn out to be best in this regard.

Thanks Thomas,
As I thought, experimentation will take place and then I should be able to decide which way to put them. Genelec recommends the woofers to point inwards when horizontaly mounting the speakers, so that's probably the way I'll try to get them sounding good. (I mean get my music sounding good thru them)
