small room layout

Hey everyone this is my first post here so i have a few questions

1. how do you post your layout ideas

2. i know you have no picture to look at as i dont know how to do it yet but i have a small basement room about 18 by ten that im usign to track entire bands. mind you its mostly all done in pieces( drums bass first then guitar) im trying to figure out the best layout for this room.

Hello dungeonsound615, nice name, was it your dad or your mum that thought of it?
Did you try by just adding an attachement (the option under the message body when you post a new message?

Cheerful name - Goth, per chance?

Anyway, you can attach any image that's gif jpeg jpg png tga tif - all you do to put the image at the bottom of your post is to click the Browse button below the text box, then browse to the image on your hard drive - then double click the file name, and click Submit.

Please make sure the image is no wider than about 750 pixels, otherwise it makes everyone scroll left/right to read your text. Gets very exasperating, especially when I add my long-winded (but thorough

) explanations.

John has (I believe) an explanation of sizing pix at the top of this forum... Steve

I bought my Sony Trinitron 21inch 1600x1200 CRT especially for this forum knigtfly. So go ahead with those ultra wide pictures hehe

As for my name some person i recorded suggested it cause everytime they come over to record in my basement they say down to the dungeon. i know lame story but it kinda stuck, Has nothing to do with goth or anything like that even though it sounds like it. thanks for the help

Ok finally have a very crappy picture but thats basically my room its about 18 feet long by 10 wide with a 7 foot ceiling. The box with the lines in it are the stairs coming down there are doors at both ends of the room and that is my desk with speakers on stands(the smal boxes). The larger box next to the desk in the corner i plan to put an equipment rack there the other box along the top of the picture is my mic locker. Maybe someone could make a better layout for me im hoping i know my picture sucks.

If you could be more exact than "about" with your dimensions, and any other important dim's too, like the stairway, desk, windows, hvac lines or anything that will help with visualizing your space in scale, the better people can help you. Is this an open ceiling typical of basements? Exactly what do you plan on doing. Soundproofing, treatment or just arrangement? Even the arrangement of your workstation/console/desk- speakers will have a bearing on your mix's. Well, I better butt out while I'm ahead

Sorry i should add its 18 feet long by ten feet wide with a 7 and a half foot ceiling that is closed there are no exposed beams. The ceiling is sheetrock, and the walls are pine paneling that i have covered with moving blankets in some areas. The stairs lead right down into the room and are maybe 10 feet long. What im looking for is what would be the best way to set this up as i am also in the room with the band while recording. Also any suggestions for acoustic treatment would be great soundproofing would be nice but not logical as i cannot tear any walls apart or anything like that.

oh the floor build up off the concrete floor made of 2x6 floor joist with what appears to be floor planks that are as old as the house i have the floor covered with carpet right now but am thinking of possibly laying down a plywood floor would that be a good idea.
