Hey Everyone
I'm having a hard time finding 703 here in my hometown.
But I found something made by Roxul called 'DrainBoard'
it's only $7 a sheet.
Do you think that would work as a replacement for 703 ?
The density of the Drainboard is 8 pounds per cubic Foot, which is more than the 703.

Hey Harper - sorry no responses yet - I just saw this, and downloaded the incredibly large ??!? pdf - then dnl the other two, and found nothing in any of them about acoustic performance.
From their description, it sounds like the stuff is just heavy mineral wool - till you get to the statement and pic about "waterproof" - from that, I would hazard a guess that they run the stuff through a bath that coats the fibers with a sealant of some kind. That would change the acoustic response, but with zero data I wouldn't care to guess HOW it changes.
The stuff requires a water barrier behind it, and is apparently intended to give a porous layer next to concrete to promote drainage away from the concrete.
All in all, it seems like a gamble to me - with no specs on acoustics, the waterproofing treatment, and the extra heavy weight, I wouldn't take the chance anywhere that's going to get covered up.
For an experiment, however, a gobo or two (or a piece just thrown up in the corners of a room) might prove interesting. At that price, as long as you don't build it into your structure without knowing what it can do, it wouldn't cost much to "play with"... Steve

Their Rxl-board 40, 60, 80 products are the equivalent of fiberglass board.
4, 6, and 8 lbs/cu foot.
