I'm using hi span or Smart span manufactured truss.
Can do 4.2m with 16mm plasterboard easily.
Same as in my control room. 4m spam with no extra bits!

javier - Deanne isn't building an inside out ceiling and its a 3.2m - 4m span.

deanne - you don't need to cut the rafters to exact shape - so long as they are held down they'll hold the plaster which will be the seal. Maybe a few multinail units would help

Run a band of the same height material all around the outside edges of the top plate. This will close up the open ends of the joists and allow the exposed beams you want plus it will make a place for the sheet rock to be nailed into.

yep - or do what javier is doing and build the inside out ceiling but expose the beams.

Yes, thanks guys.
will see how I go with the control room ceiling and if I'm still sane at the end.
The ceiling truss is laminated and not sure if it will get the desire look.
