Acoustic hangers

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

The absorption coefficient of cork is nothing compared to a cool sheet of wool, wouldn't waste my precious money on such 'expensive' material :)

Ro,
I'm not triying to replace cork for the wool... the homosote (or on this case cork) is intented to be placed between two sheets of wool

ah, my mistake (ye know, i'm lazy and don't read the threats from start everytime0

But still, it's an expensive option. I'd use something cheap like hardboard or floorvelt or whatever (if homasote isn't available)

High John,Ro and the rest...

Getting back to my standing wave problem.
Can I treat the front wall(that's a blind wall) and side walls, instead of the back wall where the diffuser and the hangers are.
I'm rather not remove the diffuser for my standing wave problem. It's very heavy and difficult to remove.

why not stuff your diffusor with insulation and put a cloth front over it. I know you are proud of it but it's useless in the room as it is.

Hey John, maybe that's a good idea. Sad enough. I'm gonna try it.

JBasinno: I made the hangers from dutch:'zachtboord' I don't no how you call it in English. It may be 'softboard'?? It's a soft wooden/pressed paper kind of stuf...
Ro help me out here

That's sounds like the right stuff micmic as homosote in the US and Canite in Aussieland is made from recycled paper so it's a soft fiberboard. What's its brand name in Europe?? Ro ??

Yes, it's the same stuff. There's different brands (many actually). very common used material.

The soft fiberboard i use has 160kg/m³.
I think Homosote is comparable.

I think i'll have to pass on the hangers.. too bad there isnt anything like homosote in chile
OSB is at least 500 or 600 kg/m3.
If the density of homosote has anything to do with how hangers work, then i rather not waste my money on something might not even work
