AudioGrotto Build Diary

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Hey Wes!

Y'know, Roy has been very efficient with the fabric. We are going to have some extra which is good since there are a couple extra traps I've put in at the last moment. I had him concentrate on the ceiling panels so we could get all that crap off the floor. The good news is the last one went up yesterday in the live room. We almost had total catastrophe when the largest one fell out of our hands and smashed a bit on the wall and floor but luckily the damage was minimal and it went up anyhow.

Now on to the side and rear scrim panels to finish the look. Diffusors going up next......

I've already had a couple bands in here and have been quite happy with the sound and the isolation, frankly better than I expected overall. So, I need to get a few more pics and then another update......

Slappin another update here for ya. Ceiling panel detail. Some floors are being uncovered. Hot chick in the studio. Various band setups that we've done. All good things in a studio!

Yup, Nuendo it is. I write manuals for them and use Nuendo for my main system. Working on the SyncStation right now....

Ashville, nice....... What's that pizza place? Mr. Mushroom? Wes Lachot helped on the control room design. He's down your way.

Mellow Mushroom perhaps? I prefer Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company :P

I'm going to have to look in to Nuendo again. Up till now I have mostly used Sonar and PT. I really would like to avoid getting sucked in to the whole PT thing again and while I love Sonar it's not really a post app.

I'm about ready to order fabric and I was wondering where you ended up ordering yours from and what you paid.

For post, you simply can't beat Nuendo. 300-500 track feature film sessions, routing galore. what's not to love?

Fabric, all Guilford. Reason: Fire rating. I'm fully commercial and come under fire inspections. Gotta have it. Any fabric needs an FR certificate to pass inspection. You don't want to lose your insurance if there is a fire and someone gets hurt. Paid? I think I have $1500 or so in fabric.
