well it appears I've cut down the spam - to achieve it I increased the complexity of the registration area where you have to copy the letters in the box.
Could some of the new members comment on that part - is it ok or too complex??

Re: The spam
I'd say it's a good idea.. to start with.
Wouldn't take too much trouble.
Another step is to reconsider your Admins. (I mentioned it before
)
An active forum needs active admins. Steve and Keith are in-active and, to be honest, I think we won't see, atleast Steve, them again. Keith pops by every 6th month orso. Where is Steve by the way? Haven't seen him on other forums either..
I'd run for Admin for sure. I have experience (hell, I've build my own forums.. that's what I do for a living) and am very active here. If yer looking for attractive admins then you might wanna look for somebody else

Re: The spam
Thanks Ro - I'll bear that in mind.
I'd actually prefer a reply from someone who has just registered and experienced the new code.

Re: The spam
Registering was easy. The code wasn't a hassle.
I guess the only problem I can imagine arising ~
is someone who happens to have bad eye sight,
or really fat fingers.

Re: aah
Now THAT'S what I call cheek! Spamming the thread about spam!!!!!
Looks like it didn't work, John. More drastic measures are needed, perhaps?

Re: The spam
Not so far Stuart - I've set the complexity of the registration form to a blance between spam and ease of use.
We are only getting the odd spam through and I can easily delete it.
