I've posted about this before, whether to go with a sliding patio door or a door and window between control & drum room. Patio door means more expense while door and window means non symetrical mixing position.
Here's the 2 designs I've come up with still leaving me room to swing a kitten in.
Room size 12' x 8'6 x 7' high
I'm starting to pull my hair out. Going with the sliding door is gonna cost me about £1500 more. Going withoug....well, you can see where I'll be sitting.
Please help,
Alec.

more like £650 a door and the rooms are seperated (in the plan but a yet unbuilt) so that = 2 doors = £1300.
What if the rooms weren't decoupled? I'd have to crank the monitors in the control room to mask the noise from the drum room and everything in the control room would bleed back out to the mics in the dum room?
It's all cat n mouse
Alec.

Yeah, or you'd be stuck with either setting mics with headphones or doing a whole bunch of test tracks... Steve

What about using a 3'0" exterior-grade door with a full glass lite panel and centering it? Like this one: http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=product ... 1728-21700
About 1/2 the cost of a slider. Any reason this would be a no-no?

Do you have your baggage, or do your bags have you?

What about what Bryan suggested and have the doors open into the live room. Wouldn't be that hard to have the doors staggard some to make room for the swing. One would need to be a little larger than the other as well.
I still agree with what has been said though. If it were me, I would just come up with the money. You'll probably regret it later if you don't.
