Son of a mixerman studio question

I was looking at his studio in the construction area and I noticed the slats above his mixer..... is that an actual slat resonator or is it for aesthetics?Either way.... I like the looks of it. Would it be sonically advantatious to me to put something like that above my desk? If not, would it be ill-advised to do such a thing?

yes it is a slot above his desk. whether it would work for you would depend on your setup?
