popcorn ceiling finish

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

popcorn ceiling finish

Post by AndrewMc »

In order to hide imperfections in the ceiling (from taping / mudding etc) - I was thinking about applying a light popcorn/texture type finish.

This is in the live room. Does anybody have any idea if this would be a big negative acoustically. There will be other treatment over a lot of the ceiling.

My concern is that this might have a high end diffusion impact - but that might be a good thing - I'm not clever enough to know the answer to that :)

Just want to check if such a ceiling finish is a big no-no or if it could be ok

thanks!

Andrew,
I think irregularities on the walls and ceilings in live rooms can't really degrade the sound performance of the room much...in most cases they help...your thing should be fine...you mentioned that you'll have treatment on most of the ceiling so that popcorn finish thing shouldn't do you any damage

cheers
Kind regards
